Who are The Blues?

Now we’ve been around a while, its time to put in something about our background

2000 - Founded by Thames Valley refugees Roy and Gary, and named after Roy’s love of Blues music. The team aimed to be friendly and welcoming to all, and playing at Victory Field, Sunninghill we managed an excellent mid-table debut in Division 2.

2001 - Roy takes a back seat and Buffy and Trish get involved. Our web site is launched. More players join and we keep up in mid Division 2.

2002 - 2nd team launched. Following a successful bid for £1771 lottery funds to buy new kit, we launch our 2nd team in Division 3. New shirts results in the top team (div 2) being renamed Ascot Sky Blues and the new team (div 3) is Ascot Blues. In our best season to date, Ascot Sky Blues wins Division 2 and the League Cup, while Ascot Blues wins Division 3.

2003 - We move to Locks Ride (for fear of division 1 players hitting the car park in Victory Field!). Newly promoted to Divisions 1 and 2, Ascot Sky Blues and Ascot Blues consolidate their positions and hold mid table positions in each division.

2004 - The club takes the plunge and launches a 3rd team. Teams are renamed: Ascot Blues becomes the ‘flagship’ team in Division 1, Ascot Blue Sox are in Division 2, and Ascot Blue Jays are Division 3. The Club can now accommodate players of all abilities, and is the second biggest in the league.

2005 - The Ascot Blues first Division Team is put into ‘Hibernation’, due to the number of women that got pregnant and had babies. The Ascot Blue Sox had a good season in the second division, coming second. The Blue Jays had a tougher year, but a few good results towards the end of the season will hopefully see them continue the good form into 2006.

Tournament results 2004 has been the best ever year, British Airways - C grade Cup runners up, Windsor - 3rd in Comp B Cup, Bristol Rec - Cup runners up. C grade Nationals competition - 3rd place.

2005 - Runners Up (again), in the Bristol Rec Cup.
